GROUP BODY DANCE
Cultivating the art of body movement to build creative community
GROUP-BODY DANCE is a guided approach of group improvisation that offers a safe, inclusive and creative approach to communal dance exploration.
Founded on the principles of group dance improvisation of Barbara Mettler and incorporating elements of other creative movement, modern dance and somatic lineages, each session progresses from individual to increasingly larger group exploration, offering an expansion of each individual kinesphere, jump-starting empathy and breaking social isolation.
Cultivate your individual creative expression while exercising the flexibility of connecting to self and to the group.
Open to individuals of all backgrounds and experiences!
Join us in cultivating curiosity in creative community!

About this series:
This 2 hour-long weekly class is open to all movers, at all stages of experience. This class is designed as an incubator to engage the connection of self to others through the art of body movement. This 4-part series offers an introduction to the approach of Barbara Mettler, guiding us in exploring dance in its elemental forms of force, time and space. Each session will invite individual exploration which progresses into increasingly larger group dance, cultivating a safe, inquiry driven creative space. This investigation of group dance improvisation encourages us to move, feel and perceive together, fostering a democratic approach of dance for all. We will finish each session with time for reflection, discussion or journaling of how our experience applies to our respective practices.
Joining for all 4 sessions is encouraged but individual attendance is possible.
