Art - when it is really doing what it should do - teaches abstract thinking; it teaches teamwork; it teaches people to actually think about things that they cannot see.

BrainFM

BrainFM is an educational tool that uses dance to learn about the brain.

BrainFM utilizes a novel approach alternating multi-sensory didactic learning with embodied co-creative experience to support understanding of neuroscience. As a result, BrainFM serves as a vehicle to stimulate community engagement while simultaneously reinforcing the concept into action.

Every session we explore a topic or concept that pertains to the brain through iterative creative explorations that invite us to translate these concepts into action.

We simultaneously reinforce the science while building community engagement in a fun and interactive way.

Together we create dance stories about science.

The program is therefore not only key to empowering individuals to be active and informed agents in their own brain health, but is also an advocate for the alliance between arts and science as a powerful tool for expanding brain health literacy.

The program is offered virtually or in person with accommodations for seated and standing activities so all can participate safely.

No prior dance experience required. All are welcome!

Science Week, European Researcher’s Night - START, Trinity College Dublin

BrainFM premiered at part of Science Week, in celebration of European Researcher’s Night in collaboration with START, Trinity College Dublin.

All three of our events were sold out. We connected with almost 200 primary school students from around Ireland and researchers and science lovers from around the globe!

I thoroughly enjoyed the BrainFM and learned something at the same time.
