PRESENTING AT NYSDEA 2020 WINTER CONFERENCE

I had the incredible privilege to join New York City based dance educators at the NYSDEA 2020 Winter Conference. Together with Naomi Goldberg Haas, artistic director of Dances For A Variable Population and Ellen Graff, dance educator/scholar and former member of Martha Graham Dance Company, we presented our preliminary work on the unique community of older adult legendary guest artists who have worked with DVP and the New York City community older adults. We were thrilled at how many attended and I was humbled at the level of openness and dialogue in which we engaged. We discussed ageism in dance and the unprecedented aging population and how they affect the dance education community. We ruminated on the relevance of this discussion to the field of dance education and society as a whole. We left feeling inspired to continue this investigation and dialogue and look forward to connecting with attendees as we pursue this inquiry!
