AKWARELE - SEEING COMES BEFORE WORDS

Playing with various representations and constructs of space in four dimensions – 2-dimensional paper, 3-dimensional physical space and time – and performed to the music of Heitor Villa-Lobos, Akwarele explores the non-verbal dialogue of two movement artists – one of a choreographed movement performed by the dancer/choreographer Magda Kaczmarska, the other a live response of pigment and water by visual artist Jiin Ahn. Video projection of the painting onto the performance space inhabited by Kaczmarska further elaborates the fluidity of the dialogue in an aural and visual display and invites us to question who is leading the conversation.
